The first competitive game of the new season leads Frankfurter Eintracht to SV Waldhof Mannheim on August 8th.

In the first main round of the DFB Cup, the team of the new head coach Oliver Glasner has to compete with the third division soccer club.

In the final test against AS Saint-Étienne on Saturday there was a 2-1.

The newcomers Christopher Lenz and Rafael Borré met.

How is Eintracht set up a week before the first compulsory task?

The gate

Kevin Trapp will be in the gate.

Glasner and his goalkeeping coach Jan Zimmermann don't have to worry about filling the goalkeeping position.

Unless Trapp gets injured.

Trapp is a leading figure in the Eintracht squad.

The club's figurehead enjoys great respect as an opinionated leader.

Two newcomers are competing for a place on the bench: Jens Grahl, who came from VfB Stuttgart, and Diant Ramaj (1. FC Heidenheim).

It is a battle of the generations - Grahl is 32 years old, the German-Kosovar Ramaj only 19. The talent has not yet played a competitive game among the professionals.

Grahl has so far "only" played twelve Bundesliga games for TSG Hoffenheim.

The defense

Glasner has decided to give his team "more defensive stability". But how? The Austrian could play with a back four. The two central positions could then be taken by the two left-footers Martin Hinteregger and Evan Ndicka. Eintracht does not have any stronger defenders to offer.

On the right, Tuta is option number one, the all-rounder Stefan Ilsanker would have the ability to replace him in that position.

Almamy Touré will not be available at the start of the season due to his tendon injury.

Christopher Lenz, who had come from Union Berlin, would probably occupy the place on the left side of the defense.

If, on the other hand, Glasner opts for a three-way defense chain, they will form Tuta, Hinteregger and Ndicka (from right to left).

In the event of injuries or bans, the 38-year-old all-rounder Makoto Hasebe would also be an option.

The Japanese is entering his 14th Bundesliga season.

The central midfield

The Frankfurters have plenty of midfielders. In the center, the game strategist Hasebe is a guarantor of stability in the six position. With his overview and his experience, he contributes significantly to a good play system. Sebastian Rode, the new captain, also enriches the Frankfurt game with his great willingness to run and combat strength. But for this he must be in full possession of his powers. At the moment he is again plagued by an injury in the form of a knee irritation.

Djibril Sow is too often subject to fluctuations in performance. After the Swiss international had improved a lot in the second half of the previous season, he lost shape again in the final sprint. Even at the European Championship, Sow was unable to play in the foreground with short appearances. The Austrian international Ilsanker is there with his all-rounder qualities when the need arises.
