Victory at the Olympic Handball Men's Olympics for the first time in 33 years

Japan beat Portugal 31:30 in Group B of the Tokyo Olympics Handball Men's Qualifying League.

This is the first time in 33 years since the 1988 Seoul Olympics that Japan has won the Olympics, and this is the first win and four defeats in the qualifying league.

However, due to the difference in goals scored within the group, Japan did not advance to the quarterfinals, which was the goal.
