On Friday, Therese Viklund and Louise Romeike made their Olympic debut when the dressage sport in the field competition took place at the equestrian stadium in Baji Koen Park.

When the field competition dressage ended a day later, Sweden was in fifth place after Ludwig Svennerstål's contribution to the arena.

Thus, a blue-yellow medal was still within reach before the terrain test, the night before Sunday (Swedish time).

There, however, it came to a standstill.

Therese Viklund with the one-eyed mare Viscera was first out, and up to the 18th obstacle it looked promising.

Once there, a misunderstanding arose and Viklund fell off.

- It was not fun, but I did not fight.

But it is of course tough when you have come this far.

And when she has gone so fantastically well all the way, says Viklund, 34.

"Very sad"

Sweden then decided that the reserve Sara Algotsson Ostholt would not start, as the team's medal chances were too remote.

Louise Romeike and Cato, who instead had to focus on a good individual placement, were excluded after failing to jump an obstacle.

- It's like that.

It's very sad.

This was not how one had hoped it would be, says Romeike.

After Sunday's terrain test, Sweden had slipped from a fifth place to a fourteenth - second last after the Thai team. And after two exclusions and a deleted Algotsson Ostholt, it is clear that there will be no continuation for the Swedish part on Monday, when the final jumping will decide the competition.
