Once again, it was a tough duel between Ledecky and rival Ariarne Titmus.

The Australian has previously taken home both 200 and 400 meters freestyle, but in the 800 meters last night Ledecky got his revenge and won in 8.12.57, over a second ahead of Titmus (8.13.83).

- I saw her all the way.

I tried to keep an eye on her and increase the distance a little grand for every 50 meters.

I knew she was going to lurk there behind the whole race, says 24-year-old Ledecky according to ESPN.

Italy's Simona Quadarella finished third in 8.18.35.

"Needed a head start"

In the 200 and 400 meters, Titmus has won after strong finishes.

- I know that she has a strong finish so I needed to create a lead so that we were not side by side at the end, says Ledecky.

Katie Ledecky thus stays on two gold and two silver in Tokyo.

In addition to the night's victory, there was also gold in the parade branch 1,500 meters freestyle, which for the first time was included in the Olympic program for women.

In total, she has won seven Olympic gold medals in her career.

Ariarne Titmus, who is making his first Olympics in his career, stays on two gold, one silver and one bronze.
