Ajax drew 1-1 on Saturday in the practice match against RB Leipzig.

The duel in Grödig, Austria, was mainly dominated by the tragic death of Ajax youth player Noah Gesser.

Ajax got off to a great start and took the lead in the fourth minute thanks to a goal from Dusan Tadic.

The captain convincingly shot the ball into the far corner after a good pass by Noussair Mazraoui.

After that Ajax was quite toothless and it was a matter of waiting for the 1-1.

That fell in the 52nd minute with a goal from Christopher Nkunku.

The attacker passed goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg and shot the ball in from a difficult angle.

Leipzig had a number of good chances for victory in the remainder, but no more goals were scored.

On behalf of Ajax, only Steven Berghuis was dangerous again with a rehearsed free kick.

The players of Ajax wore mourning bands and prior there was a minute of silence in memory of Gesser, who was only sixteen, who died on Friday with his eighteen-year-old brother in a car accident in IJsselstein, Utrecht.
