Noni Madueke opened the score for PSV in the final phase of the first half, with Mohamed Ihattaren missing due to illness.

After an hour of play, Marco van Ginkel scored his team's second goal.

Fifteen minutes before the end, the Eindhoven team had to continue with ten men through a second yellow card for Olivier Boscagli.

Substitute Mbaye Diagne did something back on behalf of Galatasaray in the final phase, but the Turks were unable to prevent another defeat.

In the third preliminary round, PSV will face the Danish FC Midtjylland, which was too strong for Celtic in two matches after extra time.

The first leg against Midtjylland is on 3 or 4 August in the Philips Stadium and the return on 10 August in Denmark.

After that, one more round has to be passed to reach the main draw of the Champions League.

PSV last reached the group stage of the European ball of millions in 2018, for which Ajax automatically qualified as national champion.

Madueke opens score with hard shot

In a reasonably filled Fatih Terim stadium, the spectators had to wait until the 26th minute for the first chance of the match.

That was for Cody Gakpo, but his shot was blocked by the Turkish defence.

After Van Ginkel also had no success moments later, Madueke gave PSV the lead eight minutes before half-time.

The Englishman lashed out hard from the edge of the box and saw his shot disappear into the goal via a defender of Galatasaray.

Initially, little changed in the game image in the second half.

PSV seemed to agree and Galatasaray, where Ryan Babel had come in, could hardly create any danger.

Van Ginkel completes beautiful attack

After just under an hour, Eran Zahavi took the first shot on goal after the break, but Fernando Muslera prevented the 0-2.

A minute later, Galatasaray's goalkeeper still had to get the ball out of his goal, after Van Ginkel had simply completed from a measured cross by Mario Götze after a wonderful attack by PSV.

With that, PSV also seemed certain of victory in the return, but fifteen minutes before the end the visitors were left with ten men due to a second yellow card for Boscagli after a foul on Diagne.

As a result, the Frenchman misses the first leg against Midtjylland.

Galatasaray took advantage of the surplus situation six minutes before time when Diagne worked in a cross from substitute Emre Tasdemir with a nice half overhead.

After that, PSV gave nothing away.
