Brazil and Ivory Coast eliminate Saudi Arabia and Germany from the Tokyo Olympics

Brazil and Ivory Coast qualified for the quarter-finals of the football competition in the current Tokyo Olympics, after the defending champions defeated Saudi Arabia 3-1 and the African team drew 1-1 against the runners-up of the previous session, Germany, in the third stage of Group D on Wednesday.

The "samba dancers" topped the group with 7 points from two wins and a draw, in front of Ivory Coast with five points from one win and two draws, compared to 3 points for Germany from one win and two defeats. And the Saudi team bottomed the teams without points from 3 defeats.

In the first match, the Brazilian team owes its victory to Everton striker Richarlison, who scored a double (76 and 90 +3), after his hat-trick of his team's quartet against Germany 4-2, to be the top scorer with five goals and a goal difference from the veteran French striker Andre-Pierre Jennac.

Brazil opened the scoring through Hertha Berlin's German striker Mateus Konia in the 14th minute, before Al-Nasr player Abdelilah Al-Omari equalized in the 27th minute.

Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz was absent from the yellow team after receiving a red card in the previous match against Ivory Coast, which ended A goalless tie, and replaced by Mateus Henrique from Gremio.

The defending champion advanced 14 minutes after the start of the whistle after a corner kick taken by Claudinho from the left, and Konya headed in the net against Saudi goalkeeper Amin Bukhari.

Brazil almost doubled the result, but Anthony's header after a pass from full-back Guilherme Arana hit the crossbar, followed by Claudinho over the goal (19).

The Saudi team equalized in the same way, after a free kick by Al-Hilal player Salman Al-Faraj, Diego Carlos reached Al-Omari, followed by a header in the net (26), compensating his goal by mistake in his team's goal during the 1-2 loss against Ivory Coast.

Later, the Brazilian team became active, and Arana threatened the Saudi goal with a powerful ball that passed along the post (36), before passing the first cross into the area, followed by Anthony with a close-range shot that Bukhari successfully threw (40).

The two teams exchanged attacks in the second half, goalkeeper Bukhari blocked a powerful shot by Richarlison (73), before the latter shined again after three minutes and doubled the result after heading a free kick inside the area around the Saudi defense that reached Bruno Guimarães, including his fellow scorer.

Richarlison scored in the 90th minute a goal that was canceled by the referee for offside, to come back and score his second and fifth goal in the tournament after a series of passes inside the area, started by Malcolm to Renner and from him to the Everton striker, followed easily by the ground in the goal in the third minute of stoppage time.

In the second match in the same group, the "Elephants" team opened the scoring through friendly fire thanks to a goal from German Benjamin Heinrich by mistake in his team's goal (76).

And "Mannschaft" equalized in the 73rd minute thanks to Eduard Lubin, but it was not enough to avoid Germany's exit from the group stage.
