Mathieu Androdias and Hugo Boucheron became Olympic champions in the 200m after an incredible duel with the Netherlands.
The French duo, who have been rowing together since 2015, have experienced many obstacles that could have caused everything to explode, but they have been able to stay united since 2016.

A duo that had to overcome a lot of hardships

Androdias, lined up for the 2012 Olympics in a four-man boat, was coming out of a conflict with the DTN at the time, which had pulled him out of the group.

The last setback in 2020, when both catch the Covid at the same time, is swallowed up in two seconds.

I perceive a lot of complementarity between them, a lot of compassion and empathy, and therefore of collective strength.

To give himself a chance to improve what can be done before the Games, the Rochelais Androdias made the decision to move to Rhône-Alpes in order to be closer to his daily friend at the Lyon rowing circle. “It's very symbolic, because ultimately they are able to be on the same training site, to meet for one out of two training sessions, and the other to do it alone, recognizes Alexis Besançon. Indeed, that simplifies a lot of things, but it is rather at the technical and personality level, to accept the faults of the other to make them strengths ”

A bit of both, certainly.

I can't wait to bring them this medal and say a huge thank you.
They made as many sacrifices as we did, because everything in our lives was set aside for this Olympic project ”.
It was worth it.
