Anton Källberg, who has never played in the Olympics before, was superior when he defeated the American Nikhil Kumar 4-0 in sets in the second round.

But in the third round, the opposition became much tougher, when instead of the 177-ranked American, he faced world six Lin Yun Ju.

Three straight sets for Lin

However, Källberg made an sometimes really good match, and shook the fifth-seeded Taiwanese really hard by taking home the second set with 11-9, and thus equalized to 1-1.

But in the two subsequent sets, Källberg was most of the time lagging behind, and Lin won there with 11-7, 11-7.

Saved two match balls

Thus, Källberg, who won the Champions League with Düsseldorf earlier this year, was forced to win three straight sets in order not to leave.

But he did not succeed.

He did save two match balls and got the Taiwanese to take a timeout.

But after that it ended, when 23-year-old Källberg after one of the match's longest duels knocked out the ball - and thus went out of the tournament.

But Källberg's Olympics are not over yet, as he has the team tournament to look forward to.

Sweden's last singles jump is thus the reigning World Cup silver medalist Mattias Falck, who enters the tournament later on Tuesday.
