The Swedish goalkeeper was first selected in the historic draft

Lovisa Berndtsson has played 178 matches in the Swedish league, SDHL, where she represented Segeltorp, AIK and most recently Djurgårdens IF.

She has also played a World Cup for Sweden.

"Means a lot"

Now, games in the North American league, NWHL (National Women's Hockey League), await, after she finished first in the league's first international draft, where the six clubs acquired the rights to each international player.

- I long to step on the ice with my teammates, start getting to know them and fight together.

Buffalo Beuts general manager Nate Oliver has followed Berndtsson in recent years, and is happy with the draft choice.

- Now the time is right and it is a good opportunity to choose her (in the draft).
