After a tough start, Jesper Stålheim got the result he needed in the Olympic sailing.

It was a Swedish victory in the third sailing in the laser class in Enoshima, outside Tokyo.

The Swede started with a 22nd place on Sunday and came eleventh in Monday's first sailing.

So the first place in the race after that was important and means that Stålheim is now fifth in the summary.

The laser class is decided in ten races which then end with a medal race on 1 August.

Finland's Kaarle Tapper leads overall, ahead of Tonci Stipanovic, Croatia, who took silver in the class in the Olympic sailing in Rio de Janeiro 2016.

On Tuesday, three sailings will be run in the laser class.
