Monday July 26 - Day 3

The French of the day

Heavy all over Tokyo today.

It will start very strongly with Vincent Luis, in search of a gold medal in the triathlon, from 11:30 p.m. Paris time.

Then we won't stop.

Fencing could still make us vibrate with the ladies' saber and the men's foil, where world champion Enzo Lefort is aiming for his first Olympic medal in individual.

Eric Delaunay in shooting and the men's archery team are good underdogs for the club, as is Magda Wiet-Hénin in taekwondo.

Martin Thomas is also expected in canoeing, in a discipline (slalom) where France remains on four titles in the last five editions.

The star of the day

The American Caeleb Dressel sets out to assault his fabulous challenge.

The swimmer is aiming for no less than seven gold medals at these Games, and it starts today with the final of the 4x100m relay.

A raid that he already carried out in 2017 at the Budapest Worlds, but which would take on a whole new scale in the Olympic world, of course.

The medal that we (really) not expect

We would like to be wrong, but it will be tense to see Jordan Sarrou and Victor Koretzky climb on the podium in mountain biking.

The two Frenchmen however have solid references - the first is world champion, the second third in the world ranking - but Mathieu Van der Poel and Tom Pidcock seem determined to break the bank.

In form, these two will be impossible to follow.

The other events not to be missed

The men's gym team competition, always spectacular, as well as the high synchronized flight at 10 meters, which we advise you just to realize how crazy these athletes are.

But above all, above all, do not miss the match for the bronze medal in mixed doubles of Emmanuel Lebesson and Jia Nan Yuan, in ping.

Belly services, forehand tops, laser counter-initiatives and a mind of steel… The Taiwanese pair number 1 in the world in front is already trembling.

The reading tip of the day

But who is Ahmed Hafnaoui, the new swimming comet?

The 18-year-old Tunisian won the 400m freestyle on Sunday with a six-second slap on his personal best.

Our special correspondent returned to the Tokyo Aquatic Center to find out more about the young man.
