South Korea's Jeongeun Lee6 was the big favorite ahead of the final day of the Evian Championships, when she led by no less than five strokes.

But Jeongun Lee6 did her worst round on Sunday, when she "only" walked around on par, 71 strokes.

The Korean hit the water

Minjee Lee, who was a full seven strokes behind the Korean before the day, did all the better during the closing day and went around seven strokes under par - which meant that the competition had to be decided with a special game.

There Jeongun Lee6 had to hit a blow already on the first hole, after hitting the ball in the water.

It ended with a bogey, which gave Minjee Lee the opportunity to putt three times to take home her first major title.

"I'm speechless"

And on the second putt, the ball went into the hole - and the first Australian title in the Evian Championship since Karrie Webb in 2006 was a fact.

- I'm speechless ... I've been waiting for this for so long.

It feels completely inconceivable to have won.

In the special game, and throughout the day, I played really well, says Lee, according to the news agency AP.
