Oliver Ekman-Larsson went straight from the hockey allsvenskan with Leksand to the NHL after the 2009/10 season.

Since then, he has represented Arizona (formerly Phoenix) in the NHL.

There have been a total of close to 800 matches for the Swedish national team-qualified hill and in the last four seasons he has also done so with a C on his chest as team captain.

But now his time in Arizona is over.

Another Swede involved

It was late on Friday night that the deal was confirmed.

Oliver Ekman-Larsson has been traded to the Vancouver Canucks.

So does Conor Garland.

In exchange, Arizona forward trio Antoine Roussel, Jay Beagle and the experienced Swede, Loui Eriksson, who during the last season got to play only seven games for the Canucks.

Gets tonight's first round selection

In addition, Arizona gets three draft picks from Vancouver for the deal: the ninth round in the first round that takes place on Friday night and then also a second round in 2022 and the seventh round in 2023.

At the same time, Arizona will continue to pay 12 percent of Ekman-Larsson's rather juicy salary.

In other words, six million per season for another six years.

In Vancouver, Ekman-Larsson will be a teammate with Elias Pettersson and Nils Höglander, among others.
