Thanks to two goalscorers Christoph Daferner and Heinz Mörschel, Dynamo Dresden started the new season of the 2nd Bundesliga with a sense of achievement.

In the duel between the two newcomers, the traditional club prevailed 3-0 (1-0) against FC Ingolstadt on Saturday.

Coach Alexander Schmidt's team took over the top of the table for the time being in front of Hamburger SV, which opened the season on Friday with a 3-1 win against relegated FC Schalke 04.

Hansa Rostock, who is playing in the second division for the first time after nine years of absence, experienced a false start and lost to Karlsruher SC with 1: 3 (0: 2).

SV Darmstadt 98, which had to compete with a decimated squad due to the corona, also suffered a home defeat at the start with a 0: 2 (0: 1) against Jahn Regensburg.

1. FC Heidenheim and SC Paderborn separated 0-0.

For Dresden, Daferner scored the well-deserved lead in the 41st minute and the second goal after the break (56th).

The decision was made by Joker Heinz Mörschel (67.), who after his solo run gave Ingolstadt goalkeeper Buntic no chance with his low shot from 14 meters.

In Rostock, a goal by John Verhoek that was subsequently disallowed in the 16th minute brought the well-starting home side a little out of step. KSC took advantage of this, taking a 2-0 lead through Christoph Kobald (42nd) and Philipp Hofmann (44th) before the break. The subsequent goal by Verhoek (52nd) gave the Rostock hope only briefly. Sebastian Jung made the decision with the 3-1 in the 79th minute.

In Darmstadt, Sarpreet Singh, newcomer and loaner from FC Bayern, gave the guests the lead in the 21st minute with his first second division goal. After the break, Benedikt Gimber increased to 2-0 (61st) against weakened Darmstadters, in whose ranks three players had tested positive for the corona virus before the game. The responsible health department had ordered all unvaccinated and non-recovered professionals to be quarantined at home. In order not to jeopardize the start of the season, the Hessians had filled their own squad with players from the U19.
