Nyck de Vries finished on the podium for the third time this season in Formula E on Saturday. De Fries finished second in the first race in London after a strong catch-up race.

De Vries, 26, started ninth and worked his way up to second during the race.

The Mercedes driver had to tolerate Briton Jake Dennis for more than five seconds at ExCeL London.

For De Vries, second place was his first podium finish since the end of April when he won the first race in Valencia.

At the beginning of this season, he also triumphed in the opening race in Saudi Arabia.

The podium in London was completed by Briton Alex Lynn.

Robin Frijns, who started only 22nd, had to settle for fifteenth place.

De Vries climbs to fourth place in the World Cup standings with 77 points.

The Dutchman is only four points behind championship leader Sam Bird, who retired in London.

Dennis (79) is second and António Félix da Costa (78) third.

Frijns (76), who was in the lead last week, drops to fifth place.

The drivers will return to action in London on Sunday.

The season will conclude with two races in Berlin in mid-August.
