The Korean delegation, led by Hwang Seon-woo (swimming) and Kim Yeon-kyung (volleyball), entered the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Opening Ceremony for the 103rd time.

The Korean delegation entered the stadium for the 103rd time after Thailand according to the national order written in Japanese at the opening ceremony that kicked off today (23rd) at the Tokyo Olympic Stadium, Japan.

Korea's official English name is 'Republic of Korea', but in this competition, it was written as 'Korea' in Chinese characters based on Japanese standards.

‘Volleyball Empress’ Kim Yeon-kyung and ‘second Park Tae-hwan’ Hwang Seon-woo entered the Olympic Stadium track together as joint jockeys, waving a large Taegeukgi.

28 people followed, including 22 players from four sports, including volleyball, rugby, shooting, and swimming, and six executives including team leader Jang In-hwa.

The Korean delegation entered wearing a team uniform while wearing a mask with the Taegeukgi engraved on it.

As our delegation entered, former UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, who was re-elected as the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Ethics Committee, rose from his seat and waved to welcome them.

Our team dispatched 354 athletes across 29 sports, including 232 athletes and 122 officials to the Tokyo Olympics.
