On Wednesday afternoon, Swedish time, the second match in Sweden's group was played.

Australia, where Swedish Tony Gustavsson took over in September 2020, against New Zealand at Tokyo Stadium.

It took only 20 minutes before Sam Kerr assisted Tameka Yallop who put 1-0 to Australia.

And 13 minutes later, Sam Kerr extended the lead.

She got a good nod on a corner and the ball slipped in just below the crossbar.

New Zealand chased the reduction and in the 91st minute, the newly substituted 20-year-old Gabi Rennie put 1-2 but there were no more goals and Australia won 2-1.

Thus, Australia takes second place in the group that Sweden leads, on goal difference, after Wednesday's 3-0 victory against the USA. Sweden and Australia meet in the next round. That match will be played at 10.30, Swedish time, 24 July.
