A 30-year-old Uzbek student working at a site for the Tokyo Olympics was arrested on Sunday after being accused of rape by a young woman in her twenties also working for the organization of the Olympic Games which s 'open on Friday, Tokyo police said on Sunday.

According to local media relayed by AFP, the suspect got to know the Japanese woman during the day and allegedly assaulted her at the Olympic stadium after they had watched a rehearsal of the opening ceremony of the Tokyo 2021 Olympics. Kyodo News Agency, both were employed part-time for the organization of the Olympics and worked in the stadium, before watching the rehearsal.

The man claimed the woman had not refused his advances, NHK television reported.
