It was during Friday afternoon, local time, that the weightlifter Julius Ssekitoleko was reported missing.

That after the 20-year-old did not show up for a planned PCR test.

"The city is doing everything to search for the individual," the state authorities wrote in a statement according to Reuters.

Now comes new information about Ssekitoleko.

He must have left a note where it said:

"I want to work in Japan"

Then the weightlifter took the express train to Nagoya about 200 km away.

The Ugandan Olympic team is currently in the city of Izumasino.

Ssekitoleko, who was part of Uganda's Olympic squad, traveled to Japan as a reserve.

The idea was that the weightlifter would travel home to Uganda on July 20.

The Olympics will be inaugurated on July 23 and will run until August 8.
