A kiss in the middle of the night, all smiles, on a ram's head painted on a large block of stone, symbol of the Hardrock 100. By triumphing from his first participation on the legendary American ultra-trail of 160 km and 10,000 m of elevation gain , in the heart of the Colorado Rockies, François D'Haene wrote a new page in the history of his discipline this Saturday.

At 35, the Rhone runner, who has already amassed four coronations on the Diagonale des Fous (Reunion) and three on the Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc, where he will again be one of the big favorites on the 27 and August 28, masterfully conducted operations from Silverton. By completing the race in 21'45''51, the Beaujolais winemaker won with 1 hour ahead of the American Dylan Bowman and 1h38 over his compatriot Ryan Smith.

The ultra-traileur of Team Salomon especially offered himself in passing the two time records of legend Kilian Jornet on the Hardrock 100, namely that of the best time in this direction (11:28 p.m.) but also the one in all directions (10:41 p.m. ).

So almost an hour early.

This gives you the scope of François D'Haene's feat, despite the almost total cessation of competitions for him since the end of 2019, due to the Covid-19.
