The Slovenian professional cyclist Tadej Pogacar is about to successfully defend his title in the 108th Tour de France.

The 22-year-old celebrated his third win of the day on Thursday at the last mountain arrival in the Pyrenees after 129.7 kilometers from Pau to Luz Ardiden.

On the last climb he left his competitors Jonas Vingegaard from Denmark and Richard Carapaz from Ecuador behind him on this year's Tour of France and further increased his lead in the fight for the yellow jersey.

In the overall standings, Pogacar can only win through a fall or a defect.

Before the last three stages, the Slovenian is clearly ahead of his two pursuers.

In addition, the captain of UAE Team Emirates took over the mountain jersey.

On Thursday morning it became known that the team hotel of the Bahrain Victorious team had been searched by the police the previous evening on suspicion of doping.

The team took part in the 18th stage of the tour as a whole.
