"The profile of the modern central defender", according to Florian Maurice

But after the departure of its captain Damien Da Silva, who left for Olympique Lyonnais, Stade Rennais had to recruit in central defense and had made Loïc Badé his priority for several months.

"He has a profile of a modern central defender," said sports director Florian Maurice.

He is young, athletic, dynamic, has a good aerial game and the ability to shoot the balls well ”.

This last quality particularly appealed to Bruno Genesio.

“We have a team that likes to play and start from behind, so he fits this pattern perfectly because he has good technique and a good long game,” assured the Rennes coach, not worried about his lack of experience.

“Today, young players are much more mature and gain experience much faster than before, so that's not a problem,” he said.

Before making his first appearance in the Red and Black jersey, Loïc Badé will however have to wait a bit.

After having followed in the stands the first preparatory match of Stade Rennais on Saturday against Le Havre (2-2), the native of Sèvres will not be in the group this Saturday against Standard de Liège because of an ankle pain.
