Mikael Ymer had received the green light from both the Swedish Olympic Committee (SOK) and the Tennis Association, but Sverigeettan refused an Olympic place.

- If it goes as planned, I have a better chance in 2024 in Paris, he says during a press conference before the Nordea Open in Båstad.

It is above all the game schedule that does not go together for Ymer, who would have had to change the surface once again.

From the grass in Wimbledon to Båstad's gravel and back to grass during the Olympic tournament.

"Will go out with it"

- To be able to represent Sweden is fantastic and I understand the meaning, both for myself and those who watch.

It was very difficult with the game schedule this year.

But besides that, there is another reason.

Ymer has previously said that he would tell why there will be no Olympics when he returned from Wimbledon.

The 22-year-old does not want to go into details, but there are differences of opinion between the tennis star and SOK and the tennis association's previous management.

- There is stuff to say.

I will go out with it if necessary, but if it can be solved behind the scenes, I want to do it, says Ymer and continues:

Meets Finns in Båstad

- It is important that certain things are handled correctly, there were things that were not so easy.

I try to work for the next generation, even if it is not visible.

Make sure things that have happened never happen again.

But according to Ymer, there was nothing that would have stopped him if everything else was true.

- It was only a small part, he says and tells that the parties have had a meeting.

Something that is also confirmed by Niklas Fjeldstad, national team manager at the Tennis Association.

- Mikael and I have had a meeting with SOK, he says to TT, without going further into what was said.

Tomorrow Mikael Ymer enters the tournament in Båstad where he meets Finnish Emil Ruusuvuori.

In the back he has the successes of Wimbledon, where he defeated the well-known Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, and the French championships where he beat Gaël Monfils.
