The Wimbledon winner was humble in the victory interview and paid tribute to his opponent Matteo Berrettini who he believes has hit with an "Italian hammer"

- Winning Wimbledon was a big dream for me as a youngster, he says in the victory interview in Eurosport's broadcast and continues:

- It's incredible to be here with a sixth Wimbledon title.

It was Novak Djokovic who opened the first set of the match best.

But the motivated Italian showed that he would make a match of it all when he came back and took the set to tiebreak, where he would also solve 7-6.

The 34-year-old started the second set as well as the first and took the lead 5-2.

Berrettini came back once again, won the serve at 5-3 and took home another game.

But Djokovic eventually took home the second set.

In set three, Djokovic won with exactly the same numbers, 6-4.

The final and decisive set was thrilling.

The players took turns winning the game and the score was 3-3.

The older man of the match then showed the class and decided to 6-3.

The world number one Wimbledon title, the third in a row, sets him at the world record for 20 grand slam titles.

As many as Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal.

"An honor"

- It is an incredible feeling, too many to handle, says Berrettini who impressed this year in the interview after the match and continues:

- It is an honor to be here and I could not wish for anything more, or a little more, he says and smiles.

With this title, Djokovic became the second man to win the Australian Open, French Open and Wimbledon.

The last time anyone did it was Rod Laver, who won all the grand slam tournaments in 1969. He has now also won three grand slam titles in one and the same season for the third time.

Djokovic did it in 2011 and 2015.

- This means that none of us will stop, says Djokovic about his, Federer and Nadal's 20 grand slam titles with the glitter in his eye.

He can now become historic and take a real grand slam;

win all grand slam tournaments in one year.

Then he needs to win the US Open later this autumn.
