The Australian Ashleigh Barty won the Wimbledon tennis tournament for the first time.

The world number one won on Saturday in London in the final 6: 3, 6: 7 (4: 7), 6: 3 against the Czech Karolina Pliskova.

For Barty it is the second title in one of the four Grand Slam tournaments after the success at the French Open 2019. In addition, the 25-year-old ensured the first Australian women's victory at Wimbledon since 1980.

The 29-year-old Pliskova, on the other hand, has to wait for her first triumph in a Grand Slam tournament.

The former number one in the world had also lost the US Open final in 2016, against Angelique Kerber.
