Björn Kuipers, 48, makes his third European Championship and now he gets the chance in the final.

- I guessed he would judge the final.

He's not the tournament's best judge, but he's one of the world's best judges.

So he does not deserve it for his efforts in the tournament, says Jonas Eriksson to SVT Sport and believes that the Dutchman has been given a marked path to the final:

- Even before the tournament, there was a thought that he would judge the final, I think.

He has been matched in such a way that he has received less profiled matches.

"Catastrophic European Championship"

How would you describe Björn Kuipers?

- He is experienced, and that is an incredibly important quality.

He has participated in three European Championships.

I judged with him in 2012, when he did a disastrous European Championship and had to go home after two group games.

But he has had an ability to learn from his mistakes, he says.

The Dutchman Björn Kuipers can, however, judge without his compatriot Pol van Boekel.

The video referee, who has competed with Kuipers throughout the championship, is poked in the final after his contribution in the semi-final meeting between England and Denmark.

- He has done all the matches with Kuipers, but now he is replaced by a German video referee.

It is exciting, it means that Uefa were not really happy with the effort in the semifinals, says Jonas Eriksson.

Despite Björn Kuiper's experience and status in world football, Eriksson is not entirely convinced that the decision to referee the final is the right one.

- I think you should deserve your place in the final, both team and referee.

He is not there for his merits in the tournament.

Who would judge the final if you got to decide?

- Turkish referee Cüneyt Çakır, he has held the highest level in the European Championships.

He made three better matches than Björn Kuipers has done.
