The German Nils Politt won Thursday alone during the 12th stage of the Tour de France, in Nîmes. 

The German Nils Politt (Bora) won the 12th stage of the Tour de France in Nîmes on Thursday, after having lost company to his fellow breakaways 12 kilometers from the finish.

The German was the strongest in the breakaway and his attack at 12 kilometers allowed him to fly to the greatest success of his career # TDF2021

30 seconds ahead of his first two pursuers

Politt won for the first time in the Tour, the day the leader of his team Bora, Slovakian Peter Sagan, retired.

The German, a solid rider who finished second in the last edition of Paris-Roubaix (in 2019), took off the second success of his career, after a stage of the Tour of Germany 2018. For the gain of the 'stage, Politt was around 30 seconds ahead of Spaniard Imanol Erviti and Australian Harry Sweeny.

The Swiss Stefan Küng took fourth place.
