Emil Millán de la Oliva broke the final in the 10,000 meters during the U23 European Championships in Tallinn.

It was more than halfway in that he stepped off - seemingly slightly lame.

The winner was the Spaniard Eduardo Menacho, ahead of Florian Le Pallec and Valentin Gondouin from France.

Several final places secured

Otherwise, several Swedes were ready for the finals in their respective disciplines.

Olympic-ready Maja Nilsson secured her final place in the high jump after finishing 1.82 in the first attempt.

At the same time as Ragnar Carlsson and Caisa-Marie Lindfors finished in the sledgehammer and discus respectively.

In the 3000 meter hurdles, both Emilia Lillemo and Julia Samuelsson reached the final.

Samuelsson also broke a new personal record with a time of 10: 09.58.

Beat new personal best

In the qualifier of 800 meters, Wilma Nielsen struck with a new personal best.

Second place in the time 2: 04.12 was also enough for a place in the final.

There she is joined by Swedish Gaël De Coninck, who qualified for the final in the time of 2: 04.31.

The U23 European Championships run until Sunday and are broadcast on SVT Play.
