At the start of "Kawagoe Castle Honmaru Gotenmae" in Kawagoe City, a departure ceremony was held after 8 am, and many people saw off and the runners departed.



After that, in Honjo City, the torch was carried by a vehicle called "land boat", which was devised in the Edo period.



And the last relay on the public road was held from Okegawa City to Ageo City.



In Saitama City, relays on public roads have been canceled due to "priority measures such as prevention of spread", and instead, an "ignition ceremony" was held in a park in Saitama City to connect the torch. Saitama.



A ceremony was held to celebrate the arrival of the torch, and when the last runner moved the fire from the torch to the torch plate installed on the stage, many people gathered at the venue applauded.

Uses vehicles devised in the Edo period

The torch relay used was a vehicle called a "land boat," which was devised by farmers in the area of ​​Honjo City during the Edo period, and the wheels rotate by stepping on the treads attached to the gears.



The "land boat" was restored to a citizen group in Honjo City based on the literature, and a torch ignited at the tip was attached.



Tomoyuki Iwata (35), who is visually impaired, boarded with the support of his wife and waved with a smile to the people who gathered for a section of about 15 meters.



After this, Mr. Iwata changed to a wheelchair and handed the torch to the next runner.
