Angelique Kerber missed her third Wimbledon final.

The 2018 winner lost 3: 6, 6: 7 (3: 7) in the semifinals on Thursday against the tennis world number one Ashleigh Barty from Australia.

In the finals this Saturday in London, Barty will face either the Czech Karolina Pliskova, against whom Kerber won the US Open final in 2016, or the number two seeded Aryna Sabalenka from Belarus.

The 25-year-old Barty wants to win her second Grand Slam title after her success at the 2019 French Open.

Nine years after her first semi-final at Wimbledon, Kerber had her chances especially with a 5-2 lead in the second set.

The 33-year-old from Kiel wanted to move into her fifth final at one of the four Grand Slam tournaments.

In 2016 she won the Australian Open and the US Open and lost to Serena Williams at Wimbledon.

Two years later, she took revenge against the American there.
