The Japan Handball Association has announced that one team staff member of the Japan Women's Handball National Team, who is training camp in Tokyo for the Tokyo Olympics, has been infected with the new coronavirus.

According to the Handball Association, the women's national team has been holding a training camp at the National Training Center in Kita-ku, Tokyo since 29th last month, and all participants undergo PCR tests every day.



The male team staff member who was confirmed to be infected was negative until the fourth test, but the fifth test received on the 4th confirmed that it was positive.



The male staff has no symptoms and will be waiting at the hotel for 6 to 10 more days.



All the other participants were negative, including the next day's test.



The local health center judged that there were no close contacts, and there were no people who were in poor physical condition, including athletes from other sports who use the center, so the Handball Association disinfected the gymnasium and then 7 The training camp will be resumed from the day.

Training camp venue Handball practice area discontinued

At the "National Training Center" in Kita-ku, Tokyo, which was the venue for the training camp, we stopped using the dedicated handball practice area from the 5th and started disinfection work.



According to the Japan Sport Council, which manages the center, in principle, athletes and staff who continuously use the facility are being strengthened by having them undergo daily inspections, and so far they are using other facilities in the center. It means that there are no complaints of poor physical condition from the person.



The Japanese women's national team for handball will resume the training camp from the 7th, but the use of the dedicated driving range will be resumed as soon as safety is confirmed under the guidance of the health center.
