The left-back defender of the France team underwent successful left knee surgery on Sunday after his injury during Euro 2020. His club, Bayern Munich, have announced that he will be absent for several weeks.

However, he could return in early September for the next Blues rally.

The injury of Lucas Hernandez was therefore a reality during Euro 2020. Absent for the round of 16 against Switzerland (defeat 3-3, 5-4 tab), the left side defender of the France team s' had surgery on his left knee on Sunday, his club Bayern Munich announced on social media.

His operation went well and the player should miss several weeks of competition, said the Bavarian club which wishes him a "good recovery".

Possible return for the next meeting

The 25-year-old defender suffered from a tear in the radial meniscus, details the Bayern Munich press release.

An injury that Lucas Hernandez contracted during the France-Portugal match in the group stage (2-2), where Didier Deschamps had replaced him at half-time by Lucas Digne, also injured a few moments later.
