Denmark started the championship with two straight losses.

Every now and then it looked dark for the Danes.

But after that, the Danish national team has gone like the train.

4-1 against Russia meant second place in the group.

Then 4-0 against Wales in the round of 16 and today the Czech Republic was defeated 2-1 in the quarterfinals.

Thomas Delaney gave Denmark the lead early in the match on a corner.

An independent Delaney could distinctly control the ball in goal.

And at the end of the first half, the Danes struck again.

Successful player Joakim Maehle hit a nice cross to Kasper Dolberg who was able to place the ball in the open goal.

That was Dolberg's third goal of the tournament.

Shared shooting league lead

But the Czech Republic would return.

Patrik Schick scored 2-1 and his fifth goal of the tournament which also took him up to a shared shooting league lead with Cristiano Ronaldo.

But that was not enough for the Czech Republic. Denmark persevered and held the lead all the way to the finish and is ready for the European Championship semi-finals. It is the longest Denmark has gone in a championship since they won European Championship gold in 1992.
