In a side competition of the current European Championship, the team of the Royal Dutch Football Association (KNVB) managed a narrow victory.

Led by the former Hamburg Bundesliga professional Nico-Jan Hoogma, who holds the office with the beautiful title of “Director for Top Football”, the selection of the KNVB officials was the first to put their national coach on the defensive in such a way that he was nothing but a liberation saw the resignation.

After a verbal argument on Tuesday, not even 48 hours after the Dutch national soccer team had left the Czech Republic against the Czech Republic, Frank de Boer brought his association first place in the competition for the fastest coach resignations at this European Championship. The associations of other high-profile finals losers such as France, Poland and Turkey were left behind. The German Football Association came in second, if not of its own free will. Joachim Löw's departure as national coach, which was only confirmed in the evening with the final whistle against England, took place three and a half hours after de Boer's resignation. A tight finish, whereby the Dutch stole the show a little from the neighbors.

A large part of the Dutch success had not only the offensive department of the media representatives, who attacked the system and demeanor of the coach briskly and ingeniously, but also the dwindling defenses of de Boer.

After only nine months in office, he lacked support from within his own ranks.

Unlike the Dutch officials, the DFB superiors did not have to try to achieve second place.

After all, Löw had already announced before the European Championship round that he would voluntarily vacate the post.

The fact that there were 5744 national coaching days and not a few more was perceived as a disappointment at the DFB.

The fight for third place remains exciting. There are enough candidates for this, but the teams of officials from France, Poland and Turkey have so far been more defensive. Poland is slowing down the pace in the banter about coach Paulo Sousa, the Turks are also playing for time, their disgraceful EM defeat with zero points and a small gate is already eleven days ago. National coach Senol Günes made it clear early on that he was not thinking of resigning. A dismissal is not so easy despite the usual cross-shot Turkish media, as the 69-year-old has earned a few merits. Especially between 2000 and 2004, when Günes first supervised the Turkish selection and took third place in the World Cup in 2002.

It is questionable whether the French show greater speed of action.

Didier Deschamps, formerly one of the best defensive midfielders in the world, also protects (himself) strongly from behind as national coach.

In a short conversation with the French association president Noël Le Graët, Deschamps initially successfully stonewalled and saved himself in an eight to ten day extension.

But he has to be careful not to get ripped off by an old teammate.

Zinedine Zidane, who turned his back on Real Madrid, could take over the game of the Équipe tricolore as it once did.

This time as a trainer.

Either way, the first in the successor competition is certain.

Germany already has Hansi Flick.

Finally European champion again!
