Tunisian tennis star Jaber wins Wimbledon in less than an hour

Tunisian Anas Jabeur qualified for the second round of the Wimbledon tennis tournament, the third of the four Grand Slams, with an easy victory over Sweden's Rebecca Peterson 6-2, 6-1 today.

And it took the 21st seed in the tournament less than an hour to surpass the 60th world ranked player.

The match was scheduled for yesterday, before it was postponed until today due to the rain that led to the cancellation of many matches on the opening day of the English Championship.

In the second round, Jaber faces the winner of the American match Venus Williams (41 years), ranked 111 in the world and the winner 5 times on English grass and Romanian Mihaela Buzarnescu (160).

Jaber became the first Arab player to win a title in the WTA Championships, by defeating Russian Daria Kasatkina in the Birmingham final in two consecutive sets 7-5, 6-4.

Jaber, 26, ranked 24 in the world, has previously reached two finals, the first in Moscow in 2018 when she lost to Kasatkina itself, and in Charleston this season when she lost to Australian Astra Sharma.
