It was not obvious that Sweden would move on from the group after the loss against Belarus, but when the favorite tipped Spain late last night defeated Slovakia, it was clear that Sweden became group three and thus get to play the round of 16.
Italy is one of the European Championships' strongest teams and an injured Sweden will of course have to struggle if they are to have a chance against Italy, Sweden's national team captain Marco Crespi's old team.
The winner meets Belarus, who sniffed the reigning champion Spain in first place in Sweden's group, in the quarterfinals.
