The torch relay in Miyagi Prefecture started at 10 am on the 21st in Yamamoto Town in the southern part of the prefecture, and went north to visit five cities and towns.



Of these, in Iwanuma City, the park "Chitosekibonooka", which was constructed in the coastal area struck by the tsunami of the earthquake, was also selected as the route, and Mr. Akira Iguchi, who worked hard as the mayor at that time, said last time = 1964. I served as the second runner following the Tokyo tournament of the year.



In Natori City, which was severely damaged by the tsunami, a torch broke out in the Yuriage district, where reconstruction is progressing.



In addition, as a special section, on the bicycle-only road in the coastal area of ​​Sendai City, Mikio Watanabe, who was the representative of Japan for cycling at the 1980 Moscow Olympics, where Japan boycotted participation, carried the torch on a bicycle.



After that, at the Sendai City Athletics Stadium, which was the last arrival point in the prefecture, an "ignition ceremony" was held to connect the torch over a short distance.



The ignition ceremony was attended by runners who were planning to run in the center of Sendai City, where relays on public roads were canceled, as a countermeasure against the infection of the new corona.



And finally, a group runner of 10 people including Mr. Hikaru Yaotome, a member of the popular idol group "Hey! Say! JUMP" from Sendai City, puts on a torch-shaped torch plate with a height of about 1.5 meters. We moved the fire and closed the schedule in Miyagi prefecture, which was the last in Tohoku.



The torch relay will be handed over to Shizuoka Prefecture.
