The Tokyo Organizing Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, and the medical associations in each district of Tokyo have said that if the Games are held without a prospect of convergence of the new coronavirus, the holding of the Games will not put pressure on regular medical care. We submitted a written opinion to the presidents of the Games Organizing Committee that we should consider holding the event without spectators as a prerequisite, and even if spectators are included, we should consider making it unattended or canceling depending on the infection situation.

This opinion was jointly compiled by the Medical Association of Tokyo, the regional medical associations in various parts of Tokyo, and the medical associations of universities such as the University of Tokyo.

According to it, the Tokyo convention is a festival that gives dreams and hope to people all over the world, and the process of convergence of the new corona is uncertain, and it can not be said that it is a controlled situation in Japan, and it is medical. From the point of view, if the tournament is to be

held,

it is required

that the infection does not spread by

holding the tournament and

that

normal medical care is

not

overwhelmed.

On top of that, many medical institutions are making every effort to deal with new corona patients and vaccinations in addition to regular medical care, and if the holding of the convention puts an excessive burden on regular medical care, the medical system will only be strained. I am afraid that it may spread to the whole country.

And if the tournament is to be held in consideration of the situation at the medical site,

search for an appropriate direction including holding without spectators, and ▽

if the

essential conditions cannot be maintained depending on the infection situation even if spectators are included. In order to protect the safety and security of the people, we should consider making it unattended or canceling it.

Opinions were submitted to Minister of Health, Labor and Welfare Tamura, Minister in charge of Marukawa, Chairman Hashimoto of the Games Organizing Committee, and Governor Koike.

The Tokyo Metropolitan Medical Association will hold a press conference soon to explain the background to the submission of the written opinion.

Medical field "30% to be discontinued" "38% non-audience"

From the 15th to the 17th of last week, the Tokyo Metropolitan Medical Association conducted a questionnaire survey of 60 districts, including medical associations, university medical associations, and metropolitan hospital medical associations.

First, I was ask you to agree with the opinion from the medical field for the Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic

▽ agreed, also approve, but 88% submitted in joint names

▽ on the position, but intention is difficult in the joint names 8 Pasento

▽ From a standpoint, it was difficult to answer 3%

▽ I disagree with 0%.

When asked about their thoughts on the Tokyo tournament

▽ The event should be canceled but 30%

▽ It is possible to hold it without spectators 38%

▽ It

is possible to hold

it with a small number of spectators after thorough infection control measures 13%

▽ It was necessary to change the holding format such as reducing the scale, and 2% and

others were 16%.

Among other opinions, "Indoor competitions should be held with no spectators, outdoor competitions should be held with a small number of spectators after thorough infection control measures" and "The holding should be postponed until the new Corona converges". The minimum requirement is to have no spectators and no public viewing. "

Tokyo Metropolitan Medical Association Chairman Ozaki "Audiences are included and the tournament goes against fear"

Haruo Ozaki, Chairman of the Tokyo Metropolitan Medical Association, said, "As a medical professional, I would like you to hold the Olympic and Paralympic Games in a risk-free manner. Since there should be no increase in infection or pressure on medical care as an opportunity, I wrote it in my opinion. It is against our current concern to hold the Games with spectators. However, if you are aiming for a safe tournament, there is a high possibility that a rebound will come during the Olympics, so please consider that there are no spectators. "
