The organizers of the Tokyo Olympics, scheduled for July 23 to August 8, have decided on June 21, 2021 to allow local spectators with a 50% gauge at competition venues, and up to a maximum limit of 10,000 people, according to a statement.
But the competitions could take place behind closed doors if Covid-19 infections multiply again, they said.

There may be a local audience at the Olympic Games despite the Covid-19 pandemic, the Tokyo 2021 organizers announced on June 21, 2021. One month sharply from the start of the events, they decided to allow the presence of 10,000 spectators at most per venue without exceeding 50% of the capacity of a competition venue.
A decision, however, subject to a condition: the health situation must not deteriorate in the capital by the start of these Olympics already postponed by a year because of the coronavirus.
"In the event that a state of emergency or other priority measures to prevent contagion are implemented at any time after July 12, 2021, the restrictions related to the number of spectators at the Games, including competitions without spectators , would be based on the content of the state of emergency or other relevant measures in force at that time, ”said a joint statement.
Decision on the Paralympic Games by July 16 at the latest
Regarding the Paralympic Games, scheduled for August 24 to September 5, a decision will be taken no later than July 16, 2021, one week before the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games.
At the end of March, the local authorities had decided to ban the presence of foreign spectators.
