FC Barcelona have hired former Olympique Lyonnais striker Memphis Depay "until the end of the 2022-2023 season".

The Catalan club will not have compensation to pay to the Lyon club since the Dutchman, who is currently playing Euro 2020 with his selection, arrives as a free player.

FC Barcelona have signed Dutch striker Memphis Depay "until the end of the 2022-2023 season", the Catalan club announced on Saturday, which will have no transfer fee to pay since the former Lyonnais arrives free. Memphis Depay (27) is Barca's second major signing after the signing of Argentinian Sergio Agüero on May 31, while superstar Lionel Messi, at the end of his contract on June 30, has still not extended his lease with the blaugrana club.

The Dutchman is currently playing Euro 2020 with the Netherlands, where he distinguished himself by scoring a penalty against Austria (2-0). At the end of May, the now ex-number 10 of OL had left his club in tears when he had failed to qualify his team for the next Champions League season.
