She had reached the Grail on August 11, 2012 by winning gold at the London Olympics in the cross-country mountain biking event.

A month later, she did it again by winning the world championship, a title she retained a year later.

Breton runner Julie Bresset has forged an incredible track record in her fifteen-year career at the highest level.

After reaching the peaks, the native of Saint-Brieuc has also experienced many struggles with a long phase of depression and several health problems that have spoiled the rest of her career.

She resumed competition in 2018 with the Tokyo Olympics in her sights, for which she was not selected.

At 32, Julie Bresset is now preparing to turn the page at the top level.

"This back prevents me from being at 100%"

In a video posted on her Facebook page, the Olympic champion says she will end her career at the end of the season.

“Today the pleasure is still there, the desire to train too but my back is failing me, underlines the Breton sportswoman.

This has always been my fuse since I was competing at a high level.

And these last weeks, I understood that this back does not prevent to be at 100%.

"

Before hanging up, Julie Bresset will race a few more races.

With of course the desire to end on a good note.

"It is certain that I will not be at the peak of my form for these last races which await me but I am in any case very motivated and I really want to finish my career in the most beautiful way", assures the runner.
