Two positive corona tests disrupted the preparation of the Slovak national football team for the second group game on Friday (3 p.m. in the FAZ live ticker for the European Football Championship and on MagentaTV) in St. Petersburg against Sweden.

Coach Stefan Tarkovic confirmed at a press conference on Thursday that a player in Denis Vavro and a member of the coaching staff had contracted the virus.

Both are in self-isolation and the association is working closely with the Russian health authorities and UEFA, said Tarkovic.

Defender Vavro shows no symptoms.

"He's fine," said the Slovak coach, "I'm very sorry that the player will not be able to play in the next games because of Covid."

The question that remains is how a player can get infected in the EM bubble at all.

"It's hard to completely isolate yourself from the virus," said Tarkovic.

There were also positive results in the tests of the contact persons, such as with a bus driver, he revealed.
