Football Europe's eyes on Denmark.

And the dream start became a fact.

In the 2nd minute of the game, Yussuf Poulsen placed 1-0 behind Thibaut Curtois and the whole Park boiled over in goal cheers.

The Danish supporters could hardly have wished for a better start to the match.

The goal was also the second fastest in European Championship history and clocked in at 1.39.

The record is held by Dmitri Kiritjenko, 1.07, who scored for Russia against Greece in the 2004 European Championships.

Poulsen gives Denmark a dream start against Belgium

The phenomenal start continued for the red-clad.

They followed up the goal with two double positions and were very close to extending their lead immediately.

- It feels like the whole park is boiling with this start, stated TV4's expert commentator Lotta Schelin.

Tribute to Eriksen

In the 10th minute, however, it was only about Christian Eriksen.

The game was stopped, the whole audience lined up applauding and "We are red, we are white" echoed across the Park.

A huge setting to support the 29-year-old Danish star.

- You get touched, standing fur.

This is what it's about, says Lotta Schelin.

Denmark continued to put pressure and came to a few half-good chances.

After 34 minutes, a mistake by the home side's left defense allowed Mikkel Daamsgard to get through. He outclassed the home side's keeper, adding another goal for the visitors.

Belgium then tried but the Danes made it crowded.

Instead, the first half ended with a good opportunity for Martin Braithwaite who, however, shot outside.

Belgium switched to others

In the second half, however, the match would turn around.

Kevin De Bruyne was substituted and nine minutes later he was behind Belgium's equalizer.

Romelu Lukaku went into the offensive penalty area, passing to De Bruyne who served Thorgan Hazard to 1-1.

Located 1-1

De Bruyne's successful jump did not stop there.

The 29-year-old himself wanted to find his way into the goal record - and did so.

He pulled home with a distinct shot with his left foot that looked in behind Kasper Schmeichel in the Danish goal.

The Manchester City midfielder is now the only European player to have been listed for at least one assist in the last four major championships (EC and WC. He did so in WC 2014, EC 2016, WC 2018 and now EC 2020.

Martin Braithwaite came close to leveling the score 87 minutes into the game, as he was set up with a through ball coming in from the left, but his shot hit the post.

But it did not become more than that for Denmark.

With the victory, Belgium is ready for the round of 16.
