French coach Zinedine Zidane sparked controversy in his first public appearance since his departure from Real Madrid less than a month ago, and responded to a journalist's questions with sharp words.

Zidane announced his departure from Real on May 27, a year before the end of his contract, and published a message through the Spanish newspaper "AS" in which he justified the decision to resign due to his disagreement with the administration and his failure to obtain the necessary support.

The French coach appeared on Sunday at Valjax stadium near the Spanish capital Madrid, accompanied by his wife, to attend a match for his son Luca, who plays for Rayo Vallecano.

A journalist approached Zidane near the entrance gate to the stadium, and asked him about the message he had published, and whether it carried a condemnation of the Real Madrid administration.

Zidane did not respond at first to the journalist's words, but returned to him and addressed him annoyed, "Are you going to keep asking the same ridiculous questions?"

The journalist replied, "No, I just want to ask questions about the letter," and the coach replied again, "Yes, that's it? Are you going to ask the same questions? Your job is a disgrace."

The journalist replied, "I'm not asking for anything else, I just want..." before Zidane interrupted him by saying, "I know you and you know me, come here, stop (referring to the photographer) come here talk to me."

Zidane accompanied the journalist away from the photographer, and seemed to be keen to explain to the journalist his position, without showing it to the cameras or publishing it in the media.

Earlier reports stated that Zidane is seeking a new experience starting next season, and his name was circulated to succeed Andrea Pirlo before the Juventus administration decided to sign Massimiliano Allegri, while other reports confirmed that he was preparing to lead the French national team after the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Real Madrid signed Italian Carlo Ancelotti to replace Zidane, who failed to win any title with the team last season.
