For their comeback in the international tournament after 23 years of absence since the 1998 World Cup, the Scots missed their entry into Euro-2021, in Group D. At home, at Hampden Park stadium in Glasgow, they were inclined, Monday, June 14, on the score of 0 to 2 against a particularly inspired Czech Republic.

However, Steve Clarke's men had started the meeting well.

It was the Scots who created the first opportunity in the 5th minute of a powerful recovery from John McGinn blocked by defender Tomáš Kalas.

Ten minutes later, it was the turn of the Czechs to scare their opponents with a strike from Patrik Schick that was repelled by goalkeeper David Marshall.

A double for Schick

The "Tartan Army" players responded quickly in the 18th minute with Lyndon Dykes taking a good cross from Andrew Robertson, but it missed the mark.

Little by little, the Scots marked the blow and were more and more dominated by the Czechs.

They end up cracking just before the break.

Three minutes before returning to the locker room, Patrik Schick opened the scoring with a magnificent header from six meters on a chiseled cross delivered by his teammate Vladimir Coufal.

On fire, the Leverkusen striker started the second half on the same basis.

He worried the Scottish goalkeeper from the 46th minute, but it was six minutes later that Patrik Schick released a lob from 50 meters that found the net.

A gem that will certainly remain as one of the goals of this Euro.

45.5 - Patrik Schick's second goal (45.5 meters) is the furthest ever scored in a EURO match since Opta analyzed this data (1980).

Surrealist.

The Scots then try to pick up the mark, like Lyndon Dykes who tries to take a head from a center, but without success (57th).

In the 62nd minute, the Queens Park Rangers center-forward returned to the offensive, taking a ball from six yards with his toe, but it was once again well repelled by the check keeper.

Lyndon Dykes pushes, but he still comes up against a great Tomáš Vaclík who diverts his shot low to the ground (66th).

In front of its supporters, the tartan team showed its will to change the match, but the Czechs held on until the final whistle.

Patrik Schick even had the opportunity to score a hat-trick in the 81st minute with a low shot in the box, but his shot crashed into the Scottish goalkeeper.

In stoppage time, teammate Michael Krmencik is also close to scoring Scotland with a nice cross strike, but David Marshall is in a good position to deflect it.

🇨🇿 The only way to react to THAT Patrik Schick goal!
