The volleyball players defeated Italy in the Nations League on Sunday after a tough game.

The team of national coach Avital Selinger won 3-2 in sets in Rimini (25-21, 26-28, 20-25, 25-21 and 15-10).

Celeste Plak, Juliët Lohuis, Anne Buijs, Britt Bongaerts, Nika Daalderop and Eline Timmerman formed the basis, just like the day before in the game lost to China (0-3 in sets).

The Netherlands started well with a small lead, which resulted in a set win in the first set.

In the second set, the Italians had a small margin for a long time.

The Orange came back, but failed to take advantage of the opportunities to win the set, after which Italy took the set (26-28).

After winning the third set for Italy and the fourth for the Netherlands, Selinger's players were clearly the best in the fifth set.

The Orange ran from 4-4 to 9-4 and did not relinquish that lead.

The fourth match point was hit on 14-10.

The Netherlands is in fourth place in the Nations League after eleven matches.

The Orange won eight times and lost three times.

After fifteen matches, the top four qualify for the quarter-finals.

The tournament continues for the Netherlands on Monday with a game against the Dominican Republic.
