After her triumph in singles, the Czech Barbora Krejcikova also won the double title at the French Open for tennis professionals.

The 25-year-old won the final on Sunday with her compatriot Katerina Siniakova 6: 4, 6: 2 against the Americans Bethanie Mattek-Sands and Iga Swiatek.

Swiatek from Poland was the individual winner in Paris last year.

Krejcikova was the first player in 21 years and the seventh overall to achieve the feat of winning the trophies at the French Open in both singles and doubles.

The last time the Frenchwoman Mary Pierce succeeded in doing this was in 2000.

With Siniakova it was their second mutual success at Stade Roland Garros after 2018, and they both also triumphed at Wimbledon three years ago.

As of this Monday, Krejcikova is again number one in the double world rankings.

In the singles, Krejcikova had defeated the Russian Anastasia Pawljutschenkowa 6: 1, 2: 6, 6: 4 on Saturday and was the first Czech woman to triumph since Hana Mandlikova in 1981, who at that time still started under the flag of Czechoslovakia.
