The Nordic derby between Denmark and Finland was completely overshadowed by nasty scenes in the first half.

In the 42nd minute, the Danish star Christian Eriksen collapsed and was left lying on the grass.

Paramedics were called in and started cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

Only after a quarter of an hour could Eriksen be carried out on a stretcher and taken to hospital.

Despite this, the match resumed - but only after Danish players spoke to Eriksen.

It was Denmark who started the match the strongest and put a lot of pressure on Finland.

After half an hour of play, the Danes had 9-0 in goal chances.

Denmark missed penalty

But it was Finland who took the lead.

With 60 minutes played, the visitors broke through on the right after some poor defending.

In the end, the ball ended up with Jere Uronen who sent the ball into the penalty area.

Joel Pohjanpalo met the ball in speed and threw himself before he got his forehead on the ball and nodded in 1-0 - Finland's first ever European Championship goal.

With 20 minutes left in the match, Denmark were awarded a penalty after Yussuf Poulsen had easily fallen in the penalty area in a duel with Paulus Arajuuri.

But the penalty from Pierre Emile Höjbjerg was weak and Lukas Hradecky in Finland's goal saved.

There were no more goals in the match and Finland took - in the nation's first European Championship match of all time - three points in the premiere.
