Sharjah Sports Council allocates one million dirhams to support Salem Abdul Rahman

The Sharjah Sports Council provided financial support of one million dirhams to prepare the player of the national team and the Sharjah Chess Club, the great international master Salem Abdul Rahman, in the benefits that await him during the next two years, most notably the World Championships that will be held next July in the Russian city of Sochi, with the participation of elite world stars in those the game.

Salem Abdel Rahman had advanced 19 places in the international classification to be included in the list of the best 31 players in the world, according to the statistics issued by the International Rapid Chess Federation in June 2021.

Sheikh Saud bin Abdulaziz Al Mualla, Chairman of the Sharjah Cultural Chess Club, praised the support provided to the club and all its members by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah.

He said in a press statement: "Thanks to this support, the Sharjah Cultural Chess Club has achieved multiple results and achievements locally, Arably, continentally and globally."

Sheikh Saud Al Mualla valued the support of the Sharjah Sports Council, headed by Issa Hilal Al-Hazami, to develop the players of the smiling emirate to achieve outstanding results that befit the name of the UAE.

A statement issued by the Sharjah Cultural Chess Club said that Salem Abdel Rahman is currently training in a special camp with the great international master and world coach, the Russian Alexei Dreyev, who had supervised his training in 2015 during his participation in the Asian International Individual Chess Championship, in which he obtained the position the first.

The statement added: "The club's coach, the international great Latvian professor Fiorel Lorda Jesko, joined the camp, to participate in the Emirati champion preparation program, which will continue until the tenth of July, as the player trains for seven hours a day."
